Your health shouldn’t wait its turn.

Why primary care access is a challenge in Ontario
Care that knows your story. When something comes up, people face long wait times for walk-in clinics, after-hours uncertainty, or trips to emergency departments for issues that could be managed in primary care.
Virtual primary care does not replace every in-person service, but it fills an important gap: licensed clinicians who can assess, treat, prescribe, and coordinate next steps.
How a video visit works
Virtual care uses secure video to connect you with a licensed healthcare provider from home, work, or anywhere with a private space and internet connection. You join from a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone. No special app is required beyond your patient account.
Visits follow the same clinical standards as in-person primary care. Your provider takes a history, asks follow-up questions, recommends treatment, sends prescriptions to your pharmacy when appropriate, orders lab work, and documents the visit in your record.
Care arrangements
Northstar Medical is built for both sides of Ontario's gap. Northstar primary care is a dedicated provider, a Welcome Visit to start your care, care as often as you need, and continuity through an Annual Visit. Northstar family primary care is that same relationship for a household.
A One Time Visit remains available when you only need care today. Northstar is not a Ministry-rostered family doctor, and this is not payment for medically necessary insured care.
What to expect from your first visit
Create a secure account, book a time that works for you, and complete a short intake before your appointment. At visit time, join the video call from your patient portal. Your practitioner will listen, explain options clearly, and agree on a plan with you.
After the visit, your summary, prescriptions, lab requisitions, and any documents appear in your portal. If you need follow-up, you can book again without starting from scratch.
Call 911 for emergencies
Virtual primary care works well for many everyday health needs. It is not for emergencies - call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department if you have severe or life-threatening symptoms.
If you have been waiting for a regular provider or need care today, Northstar Medical offers a practical path forward. Book a One Time Visit to try virtual care, or start Northstar primary care or Northstar family primary care for an ongoing relationship.
